BruinBooks FAQ
Your digital course materials will be available in Belmont's learning management system, Canvas, on the first day of classes. Once you're in Canvas, look for the BruinBooks link in the course and click it.
- Read Now Button: If you see this button, you'll be prompted to create a VitalSource account if you don't already have one. Tip: You can also access e-textbooks via bookshelf.vitalsource.com.
- Launch Courseware Button: If you see this button, you will be directed to the publisher's platform for access to the e-book and accompanying online resources.
- Reveal Access Code: If you see a reveal access code button, you will use this to copy your access code and paste it into the publisher's website.
- No Button: If neither button is visible, the courseware item is accessible through a link in an area of Canvas designated by your professor.
Canvas Digital BruinBooks are billed to your student account approximately one month prior to the first day of classes. You can opt out of any materials you want to decline, and your student account charges will be adjusted. The opt out deadline for each semester is one week from the official first day of classes.
Your required print books and physical course materials will be available for purchase on our virtual bookstore.
Click here to purchase your physical books!
You can ship your print books to your home address or to campus to pick up! If shipping to campus, please use the default address of 1508 Delmar Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212. Please do not ship to 1900 Belmont Blvd or 1700 Portland Ave, as this may delay your order.
Charges for orders on the virtual bookstore occur in real time, so your print book orders will be charged to your student account at the time you place the order. Rental books require a credit card to be entered for rental late fee charges in the event the rental book is not returned to our print vendor at the end of the semester. Otherwise, orders cannot be charged to a credit card.
If you need to return a print book ordered through bncvirtual.com/belmont, returns must happen within 2 weeks after the class start date or within 21 days of shipment - whichever is later.
You are automatically opted into required Canvas materials. You will need to click the opt-out button for e-books you don't wish to purchase through this program, but you must do so before the end of the drop/add period occurring at the beginning of a given semester. We strongly advise against opting out of any publisher courseware items as purchasing directly from the publisher may increase cost.
Optional or recommended digital items will require you to opt in if you choose to purchase them.
Yes. When you make changes to your course schedule, those changes will be reflected in Canvas and reveal the required digital materials for that course. In some cases of dropping a course and adding a new one, you may find that the new course requires a print book. It's a good idea to refer to the Virtual Bookstore to see if there are any print or other physical course materials required when making changes to your schedule during the drop/add period.
Generally, no. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please reach out to [email protected].
If you prefer print format, you can opt out of the digital version on Canvas and purchase through a third party provider of your choice.
